Frequently Asked Questions

How much soup does the well hold?
The raised well holds about 12 ounces, enough for a standard bowl sized portion of soup or chili. The flat area beside it fits a sandwich half, a side salad, or crackers, so a full lunch fits on one plate.

What is the plate made of, and is it dishwasher safe?
Each plate is bone china, and the set is both microwave and dishwasher safe, moving from reheating leftovers to the table to cleanup without special handling. Bone china is also generally lighter and more chip resistant than standard ceramic dinnerware.

How many plates come in a set?
This is a set of 4 combination plates, sized for a small household or a table for four. Each plate is 14 by 9 inches, larger than a standard dinner plate to fit both the soup well and the flat serving area.

Can I use these for meals other than soup and sandwiches?
Yes. The flat area works for a main course with a small side, and the raised well suits anything served with a sauce or dip. It is not limited to soup and sandwich lunches, though that pairing is what it is designed around.

Will these fit in a standard place setting?
At 14 by 9 inches, these plates are larger than a typical 10 to 11 inch dinner plate, so measure your table or place mats before ordering if space is tight. The oval shape holds both the well and flat area comfortably.
