The Handmade Stoneware Coffee Cup
A wheel-thrown stoneware coffee cup with a bare, textured exterior and a smooth, opaque-white glazed interior, so the outside stays raw to the touch while the inside is fully glazed for easy cleaning. Every cup carries the potter's own finger marks from being shaped on the wheel, so no two match exactly.
Because the outside is left unglazed rather than fully coated, it can pick up faint marks over time the way any raw stoneware surface does. It is sold individually rather than as a set.
Why is the outside of the cup rough?
The exterior is intentionally left bare and porous, showing the raw stoneware texture and the potter's own finger marks from the wheel, while the interior is fully glazed smooth. It is a deliberate design choice tied to how the cup is thrown, not an unfinished surface.
Is it dishwasher and microwave safe?
Yes. The interior glaze is food-safe and lead-free, and the cup is both dishwasher and microwave safe despite the unglazed exterior. Regular washing will not affect the glazed interior surface or how it holds up over time with daily use.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping runs 1 to 4 weeks unless the cup is already in stock at the US warehouse, since it comes from a small pottery studio in Ukraine rather than a mass-production line. Part of each sale also supports Ukrainian refugees.
