5-Ply Stainless Steel Saucepan with Lid
A saucepan spends its life doing things that punish uneven heat: reducing a sauce, tempering custard, simmering rice. Five bonded layers running up the sidewalls give you steadier control than a thin pan that scorches wherever the burner touches it.
What It Is For
Sauces, reductions, grains, custards and anything temperature-sensitive. The stainless interior is non-reactive, so tomato, citrus and wine-based sauces will not pick up a metallic edge the way they can in bare aluminum. It responds quickly when you change the heat, which is the difference between a sauce that reduces and one that breaks.
Sizes
- 1.5 quart: 2.3 lbs. 14.5 in. L x 7.5 in. W x 4.3 in. H
- 3 quart: 3.3 lbs. 16.2 in. L x 9.1 in. W x 5.3 in. H
- Both include a lid
Getting the Best From Stainless
Preheat before adding oil, and let food release naturally rather than forcing it. Use low to medium heat, let the pan cool before washing, and clean with a soft sponge or non-scratch pad. Bar Keepers Friend restores the shine when it dulls. There is no coating to protect, so metal utensils are fine.
